If it ain’t one thing, it’s a motha’ f***in’ notha’…

…word to ya motha’ and ya sista’ and ya brotha’… It was Snoop that coined such worthy wisdom…
…and it was me that arrived home after such a ‘better-than-it-should-have-been’ (weather, pace, and money - wise) evening valeting with Jeff, to check on my brand new baby bike (notice the ‘new tire nibs’ still in place) and be greeted by this most unpleasant sight…

Now… at first, I thought what I was looking at may have just been a random piece of debris… but it didn’t take more than an instant of closer inspection to find that it was, in fact, a large screw… dead in the center of the tread… and as I tried to wiggle it a bit to see if it was just in the epidermis of the tread, I could immediately hear air starting to rush out of the hole… (F**K!)
SO… Instead of my plans to get to ride my new motorcycle on what’s supposed to be a beautiful Friday and over the weekend, I now get to figure out how to beg my dad’s assistance in helping me to get it on his trailer and schlep it all the way up to the dealership in Lawrenceville (30 miles away) to have them charge me I can only imagine how much to fix it (as it’s not nearly as easy to get off as a car tire, or yes, I’d just take them the wheel & tire to repair)… and if I’m really lucky, they’ll be just busy enough that they won’t be able to fix it while I wait, which will instead necessitate my driving home, only to have to inconvenience someone else on a separate occasion to drive me all the way out to beautiful Lawrenceville once again!
And yes… I’m just venting because I’m momentarily frustrated… I’m more than aware that this is likely the best case scenario for finding a screw in one’s motorcycle tire…
Worse Case Scenario: having taken it on a long ride, I discover the nail in the tire when I’m far from home and even further from a trailer or an acceptable repair facility…
Worst Case Scenario: in the middle of a curve, at about 50 mph, the screw works itself just loose enough to have the pressure from the tire push it the rest of the way out… quickly… causing a blow out… the bike and I crash and burn…
So… I guess this is actually a good thing? Then why am I so pissed off about it right about now?
